Women Can Prevent Heart Disease by Eating Organic Whole Foods



 The real impact of heart disease on women has had increasing attention recently.  Although it is often erroneously thought to affect men more, current statistics show that heart disease actually kills more women than men.   One in three deaths of American women each year is caused by Heart disease, and it kills more women than all types of cancers combined.

Unfortunately, the white flour, sugars, refined oils and animal products that permeate he standard American diet or, "SAD, " are all known to promote heart disease.  Eating this type of diet has caused many American women to have to take various medications for cholesterol and blood pressure problems, and they experience heart attacks and strokes  more commonly now than in the past.  Women's medical professionals often recommend that their patients reduce saturated fat intake and be sure to understand the symptoms characteristic of a stroke or heart attack.  These simple recommendations, however, tend to just put a bandaid on a much deeper issue, and are not effective.  



The great news is this:  Women can vastly improve and heal their cardiovascular health and even improve their overall health to the point that the chance of heart attack is virtually null!   Believe it or not, heart disease is easily and almost completely preventable and reversible just by adopting healthier eating patterns that include lots of whole foods,  generous amounts of plant foods that are rich in phyto-chemicals vital to healthy brain function, with minimal processed foods and animal products.  These facts are backed by an increasing amount of scientific research that points to diets rich in plant and whole foods supporting overall excellent health.

Let us never forget the incredible Power that is in each one of us to heal ourselves! It is a scientific fact that our bodies are designed to naturally heal themselves.  Keeping this fact in the forefront of our minds will certainly strengthen our bodies' natural healing abilities.  However, making conscious choices every day to eliminate negative thinking, to bring in more positive thoughts and feelings about our innate Power as "spiritual beings having a human experience," will even further strengthen these abilities within us.


Making conscious choices to eat healthy, whole food diets, to get more exercise, to use only vegan or organic skincare products on our bodies and to surround ourselves with positive, loving people are powerful decisions that will increase our natural healing abilities!  Our journeys are certainly all about the choices we make every day, so why not give ourselves the best possible chance of boosting our self-healing capabilities? If we are uncertain about any new choices, making the healthy decision to ask for guidance from a trusted friend or colleague is the right next step.  Knowledge is Power, after all, and gaining new knowledge from others will always increase our own wellness.

Let's make more conscious choices every day to trust our inner self-healing 'guide,' and to seek more wellness and balance in all areas of our lives.  It is amazing how quickly our inner healer responds when we pay attention to it and give it the gifts  of regular exercise, getting enough rest, eating whole, organic foods and bodycare with lovely organic skincare products, rather than common products that contain chemicals that are toxic to our skin, bodies and health.  We can choose to heal ourselves!

Are You Getting GMOs in Your Vitamins?

             

We find it discouraging that GMO's are found in many common Vitamin brands on the shelves today, even in the so-called "natural" section of your grocery store! Many of these "vitamins" contain corn derivatives and soy, and some apparently utilize GM microorganisms in manufacturing their products.  It can be quite challenging to find truly organic and non-GMO supplements amongst the many "natural" labels that populate the shelves in local stores.

However, we found this link to a Shopping List that is very helpful in sourcing non-GMO vitamins. It contains over fifty different brands, like Vega, Chosen Foods and Tree of Life that you can click on to check out which of their supplements is actually non-GMO.  Unfortunately, the "Nature Made" brand didn't make the list, folks!  Oh, well - thankfully, there are many others to choose from.

It can be difficult enough to research, purchase and incorporate non-GMO food sources into your diet, let alone having to be concerned about the vitamins you purchase and consume, as well.  Here is a tip that will help even the most scrupulous non-GMO consumer:  "Follow the Seal!"
 
According to the Non-GMO Project.org, (they) "do require testing of all ingredients.  Following the test, which must indicate that the ingredient is below 0.9% GMO (in alignment with laws in the European Union), we require rigorous traceability and segregation practices to be followed in order to ensure that the tested ingredients are what get used in the product."
"So in short, what our seal means is that a product has been produced according to rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance, including testing of risk ingredients...Companies enrolled in the Non-GMO Project are serious about keeping GMOs out, and work hard to do so. The Non-GMO Project is the only organization offering independent verification of testing and GMO controls for products in the U.S. and Canada."

Fight Aging Free Radicals in Skin Care with Natural, Organic Coconut Oil
